On Feb. 23 Battle of the Bands returns to Mohawk College, giving local talent the opportunity to showcase what they are all about.
The event starts at 8 p.m. in the Arnie and admission is free for students and guests to support the bands.
“The process of the event is simple,” said Zach Rychlik, marketing and communications manager of the MSA. “Bands had two weeks to submit their band and music and half the band members must be current Mohawk College students to enter. We then posted their bands music online and had the Mohawk College students vote … the top five voted in will play at this year’s Mohawk Battle of the Bands”.
Attendees can expect to see the following five bands perform: Kill No Albatross, Burn the Louvre, Wooly Mantis, Gung Ho Catalyst, and Fungicide.
For the band that wins, the prize is $500 and the opportunity to compete at the Ontario regionals against other university and college winners.
“There is an outside panel of judges in the music industry that will listen and select one winner to move onto the Ontario Regional Finals,” said Rychlik.
The Ontario Regionals are on Wednesday, March 29 hosted at McMaster University at the campus bar TwelvEighty.
