Family Jingle & Mingle charity Christmas event

With Christmas right around the corner, many families are getting ready for their yearly traditions.

Family Jingle & Mingle held its sixth annual Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 9.

“It is a giant celebration for the whole family,” said Gaby Mammone, organizer and director of Family Jingle & Mingle. “We have virtual reality, cookie decorating, bouncy castles, games, princesses, Batman, and lots and lots of activities for families to do.”

Every year, Family Jingle & Mingle chooses a children’s charity to support. In the past, they have supported charities such as the Children’s Wish Foundation and charities for pediatric cancer. This year, they chose the Breakfast with Santa Foundation.

Breakfast with Santa Foundation helps to feed underprivileged children nutritious meals.

“We go out into the community and ask community organizations dealing with child poverty and food insecure families to refer them to us,” explained Maria Esteves, president and founder of the foundation. “This way, families are able to have the Christmas they would otherwise not have.”

All proceeds from this year’s Family Jingle & Mingle were donated to Breakfast with Santa.

Parents who attended this year’s Family Jingle & Mingle seemed happy with the event.

“My family and I come every year,” said Julia Deckert, a mother of two five-year-old twin boys. “It’s great, so many families come out, it’s such a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit and it’s for a good cause.”

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were also at the event taking pictures with families.

Families took photos with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

“I love seeing the children’s smiles and hearing what they want for Christmas,” said Santa.

“My kids always look forward to coming,” said Wayne Farrell. “Every year, we take a picture with Santa, it’s a family tradition.”

Organizers of the event say it was a success and they are excited to see what next year has in store.
