Hamilton chefs face off in a cocktail mixing competition

Mezcal Tacos and Tequila (TNT) eatery is putting together a cocktail mixing competition. The Bar Fight Champions will take place Wednesday at The Liquid Kitty Nightclub. Two chefs from Hamilton will test their cocktail mixing abilities during the competition.

Mezcal TNT’s owner Manny Ferreria says he started the event because he wanted to challenge the chefs somewhere other than the kitchen.

“What they are good at is understanding flavours and ingredients and manipulating those flavours with alcohol in the mix,” Ferreria said.

The event is being catered by Mezcal and Hamilton’s NaRoma Pizza with unlimited tacos and pizza and one drink on the house for those who attend.

Ferreria says he opened the restaurant on James Street to take advantage of Hamilton’s thriving food scene and to pick up on the traffic from Augusta Street.

“I think we are really putting in work when it comes to putting the Hamilton food scene on the map,” Ferreria said. “The look of the place, the vibe and the wide selection of tequila and obviously the food brings people in.”

Mezcal, located on James Street South in Hamilton, is the only restaurant on the street that features a taco and tequila duo on the menu. This is one of the many reasons why it has been so successful in Hamilton’s increasing food scene.

Tickets for the upcoming cocktail mixing competition can be found at the restaurant and on its Instagram page.
