October became Hamilton’s very own Fashion Week

Hamilton designers showcased their work in fashion at Digital Canaries Studios for day one of Hamilton’s Fashion Week.

Fashion Week events started at 2 p.m. on Oct. 21 with a fashion ‘Matinee’ featuring Tasha Apparel, Pop Sauvage, Luxury Fur, Maricar Studio and Designs by Merike.

The first day started earlier for models, photographers and Fashion Week Organizers Ken and Krystal Biehler.

“Quite honestly, it’s a lot of work and people put their blood sweat and tears into the event,” Ken said.

The fashion show continued at 7 p.m. with designs from Zander, True Hamiltonian, and Strauss Men’s Wear.

Things were off to a great start with themes including diversity, re-furbishing clothing, and giving back to the community.

“I feel like our models represent a lot of different nationalities, ethnic groups, and sizes,” Ken said. “We wanted to make sure that we are all-inclusive.”

Matt Alexander, the designer of the brand Zander, said that even though it’s his first time here he enjoyed the event.

“February we launched our first collection and now we just showcased season 3, our fall/winter collection at Hamilton Fashion Week,” Alexander said, “We are out here having fun.”

Ken and Krystal said each year gets more hectic but they were looking forward to continuing the show on day two.

“Year one, when we started, there was absolutely no money,” Ken said, “This year we have done a lot of legwork … A lot of our connections are repeated connections; which makes it a lot easier.”

Hamilton Fashion Week festivities continued on day two featuring Jeffrey Bridal by Merike, The Thrifty Designer, Phresh Empire, Luxury Furs and Engaged Fashions.
