The local fashion industry is ready to make its mark yet again in the Canadian fashion world.
Hamilton Fashion Week, or HFW, is back for the fourth year in a row at Digital Canaries Studios. The event kicks off this Saturday, Oct. 21. It will be showcasing the works of over 12 local Hamilton and Canadian designers.
Co-creator of HFW, Ken Biehler, said: “The purpose of Hamilton Fashion Week is to provide exposure to local and regional fashion designers and professionals. Over the last 4 years, Hamilton Fashion Week has launched the careers of many local designers. Now Hamilton is becoming a very important hub in the Canadian fashion scene.”
The event takes place over a two-day extravaganza, beginning with a fashion matinée on Saturday at 2 p.m. Guests are welcome to come early to enjoy appetizers and beverages. Designer clothing will also be available for sale. Designers will take over the catwalk again at 7 p.m. during the fashion gala.
Sunday will consist of a brunch and fashion show at 2 p.m., followed by the presentation of The Alexis Smith Spirit Of Fashion Award.
The host of the event, Digital Canaries Studios, is the largest film studio in Hamilton, with over 30 standing sets and film sets. It is located at 520 Burlington St. E.
Guests can buy single tickets for $20 each, or all-access tickets for $40. Tickets are available at www.hamiltonfashionweek.com.
